Rating
- Durability Well made from quality materials and looks as though it will last
- Portability The cuff is larger than it looks from photographs and is certainly larger than many similar monitors. It is less portable than, say, a wrist monitor.
- Ease of use Simplicity. In common with the Withings scale, initial set up is quick and straightforward.
- Design and form factor Apple-style design. It looks good and works well.
Detailed review
I have both the Withings scale and the blood-pressure monitor and am delighted with both. Set up is very easy and, once you are connected to your wifi network subsequent operation is automatic and straightforward. In six months it has never once failed to communicate. Provided you take the usual precautions, including sitting still and keeping the monitor at heart level, the readings are plausible. Blood pressure fluctuates during the day and it is difficult to be absolutely sure that the readings at any time are accurate. However, after trying many different types of monitor, including finger, wrist and arm cuffs, this is the one that seems to me to be the most accurate and consistent. To use, simply plug the attached cable into the iPhone, open the app and press the start button. You can initiate the monitor manually as many times as you wish and it an average will be calculated. Alternatively you can set the app to do an automatic set of tests at specified intervals. The Mywithings web site is a model of clarity and functionality. It combines the results with those from the Withings scale.
