Conclusion: Pass on it

Vizio's All-in-One PC is a well-designed, media-centric PC that includes HDMI inputs so it can be used as a display with a cable box or gaming console. However, as a PC, it falls short, especially compared with competing all-in-ones like Apple's iMac and Lenovo's IdeaCentre B520. PC World calls the Vizio "a good-looking and rather pricey disappointment," pointing out that its display, keyboard, and performance don't meet their expectations. Engadget found the PC's performance "lackluster" and said "usability issues make it very difficult to enjoy what this machine actually has to offer." However, with a new model due out shortly, Vizio has an opportunity to, as Engadget puts it, return to the drawing board and deliver "something more polished."

Vizio's first desktop has an unforgettable look, but that modern design comes at the expense of both performance and comfort.

The Vizio 24-inch All-in-One (CA24T-A4) is an attractive all-in-one desktop that is worth considering. Its ability to function as a television also makes it an especially solid choice for users who don't have a lot of physical space to spare.

The design, sound, ports, and extras are top notch; the display, keyboard and performance are not. It's almost as if the CA24T-A4 were designed to be used from a distance on a couch, as you would use a TV, not sitting up close where you need to be for any serious sort of computing.

A touch screen and Windows 8 can't defuse the impression that the Vizio CA24T-A4 all-in-one was designed primarily for retail shelf appeal.

Though this machine is cheap at $950, it strangely feels surprisingly expensive when you put it next to competitive offerings that look just as good and work substantially better.

The problem is that it sacrifices much in this design compared to the competition. The performance is below average from relying on mobile parts and even the keyboard and trackpad are essentially taken from their laptop design and leave much to be desired.
