Conclusion: We like it

These in-ear headphones deliver deep bass -- not surprising, since Velodyne is known for its subwoofers -- without overwhelming the high or low-end. The flat, tangle-free cable includes the usual inline mic and volume controls. While the vPulse costs more than many fairly decent in-ear models, including the gdgt Must-have Klipsch Image S4i, if you're looking for heavy bass that won't bury the rest of the range, the vPulse is a good choice.

No doubt about it, the vPulse is the IEM for bass freaks. The coolest thing about it, though, is that it’s a headphone that sounds great with hip-hop and rock but still sounds good when you put on a Sonny Rollins or Joni Mitchell tune.

For under $90, however, the vPulse is a very strong contender—it delivers deep bass, and only distorts at top volumes on low-mid frequencies. It's not a masterpiece, but it performs well and is priced fairly—and the eight pairs of extra ear tips add a bit more value to the equation.

I'm not a fan of IEMs so haven't wanted to try many of them, but these are the very best I've heard. I enjoy listening to these for hours and hours on end. Don't use them for mastering, but use them for enjoying music.
