2011 Edition), but after reading some reviews (I liked the CNET one) and lots of different opinions, I just got so confused. A lot of people says the Astro A40 are the best gaming headset ever created, and that they so superior than the Turtle Beach X41. Then there's the people that says you should get the Turtle Beach X41 cause they have 7.1 Surround, a way better bass, and are cheaper (and wireless, but that is no longer a problem). Is there really a noticeable diference between Surround...

It produces decent audio quality with deep bass however there is a slight hum which can distract you during quiet scenes. The build quality is average however within 4 months of ownership it has already succumb to the dreaded floppy microphone which is now unable to be raised and will just fall with slight movement. Even when taking its relatively cheap price compared to other cross platform headphone/chat solutions, I have trouble recommending this product. It does the job but If you're a...

I was wondering if anyone has had luck getting these headphones to work with OS X? I wouldn't mind shelling out the cash for the x41 if I knew they were dual use but after some google searches I came back pretty empty. Just a little bit of txt on Turtle Beach's page that it should work on Mac / PC minus the mic.
When I first started reading about these, I seem to remember finding a site where somebody had linked to a bluetooth adapter that converted an analog headset to bluetooth. Using this, the person had supposedly made the headset work with the PS3 as well. It's basically a bridge. Anybody know of something like this? IIRC, it was a linked to something on Amazon that was about $15. I just can't find it.
I got these two items to replace the wire from the controller to the headset. I like having the mic volume and mute button on the controller rather than on the wire. It also helped reduce the crackling sound that these sometimes make. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Headset-Adapter/dp/... http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id...
With MW2 coming up I'm thinking of doing a surround headset shootout. Anyone used all three? What do you think? I've been hearing the X41 build quality is a little cheap and the audio isn't the most impressive; the Astro appears to be simulated surround only (which I'm not about to go for) but I hear it's a much better built device; the Tritton seems a little on the lower-end side and I haven't heard a ton on these guys. http://gdgt.com/turtle-beach/ear-force/x41/...

Earlier this year I asked about the A40s and Turtle Beaches here on gdgt, and finally decided for the Astros. But for some reason, Astro decided not to sell me the headset because they failed to verify my credit card/bank account. They told me to try some things, but in the end and after two weeks of waiting, I gave up and forgot about headsets. Besides, the international shipping was freaking expensive (about $100). Then I read this review of the Turtle Beach Ear Force PX5 on Engadget:...

How is the battery life? Are the volume dials easy to figure out between raising and lowering the game and chat volume separately? Often times I turn off/down the chat volume because 12 year olds are annoying and ridiculous while playing Call of Duty. I really like the look of this but am curious how comfortable is it for an extended gaming/movie session. Can I pair this set with my iPhone like the really expensive turtle beach headsets? That would be a big selling point for me.
I had a similar problem about a year ago and the solution was to move our wireless router farther away from the base station. Neither the base station or my router has moved since I originally wrote about this problem in November 2009, so not sure why I'm suddenly having tons and tons of drop outs again. It'll be nearly unusable for quite a few minutes at a time. I've changed to fresh batteries to no avail. It's frustrating. Any ideas? See previously:...
Recently picked these up in anticipation of Modern Warfare 2. I've been mostly happy with them, though I'm noticing that the sound cuts out a bit too much for my taste. I understand that it goes with the territory of wireless headphones, but is there anything I can do to prevent the sound from completely cutting out in a critical moment? It seems to occur whenever loud explosions happen, so I thought maybe it had something to do with the sound clipping. But I'm not sure where I'd...

I'm thinking about getting a set of surround sound headphones, primarily for TV viewing. I have a 360 as well, though, and these have a good reputation so I figure I might as well get the XBOX functionality too. Does anyone know how these will work with HDMI? I have all my sources (360, UVerse box, DVD player) going into a receiver via HDMI, and then one HDMI out to my TV. I gather that these take in an optical audio signal from the 360 which they can then pass through to a receiver. Can I...
