TiVo says it's reinventing the DVR, but all it's done from a consumer perspective is add new (slow) menus to the TiVo HD. The problem is that moving at such a snail's pace has allowed cable companies to catch up and consumers to move on; if cheap/free cableco DVRs were TiVo's greatest existential threat of the past decade, the combination of cheap/free/good cableco DVRs and online-only content customer might be the fatal blow of this one. The Premiere is the DVR we wanted two years ago--TiVo's challenge will be to make it the DVR we want two years from now.

The Tivo Premiere has become my default internet video source. The ability to type in any url of a video and have it streamed to the TV is outstanding. I watch most of my video podcasts this way. Premiere new interface is great where it exists except for the speed. Its too slow for quickly scrolling through the list of shows. Many menus revert to the SD menus. Been a faithful Tivo user since the original Phillips version many years ago. Having purchased 10 or so, I consider myself a pretty loyal and happy customer --- however, it isn't perfect, particularly when paired with Time Warner cable and their beloved tuning adapters.

Since I'm a cord cutting antennae only user Tivo had a great deal for antennae only users. Service is only $10 a month great deal compared to my $70 satellite bill which i was only getting about $10 of value from.

Great device. It has many online services and features built in that you can take advantage of. I wish there a way to lower the recording quality of digital shows.
