TiVo says it's reinventing the DVR, but all it's really done from a consumer perspective is add some nice new (slow) menus to the TiVo HD.

The TiVo Premiere is a good upgrade if you're already a TiVo HD or Series3 user, and an even-better upgrade if you still have an older Series2 TiVo DVR. If you're satisfied with the service on your cable company's DVR, however, that's likely to be a more-convenient and less-expensive choice. quote

Though not as polished as it should be, the TiVo Premiere is still the best DVR on the market and leagues better than the typical DVR from your cable company.

Read the full review →...the Premiere is still the best turnkey set top DVR I've ever used—TiVo has me there. As a self-contained package that combines your cable subscription with goodies on the internet, it's very intuitive, natural and, ultimately, successful.
Read the full review →The TiVo Premiere HD DVR is simply loaded with features. TiVo has tweaked its interface to better suit HDTVs while still retaining those elements that have long made it the de facto choice in DVR technology. The box also has a larger hard drive than the company's previous entry-level HD DVR, and it...
Read the full review →My understanding is that the Premiere took a bashing on release, several months ago. I got mine in August of 2010, and the first thing it did upon calling home was to install a massive, multi-hour update. I wonder if that update addressed earlier complaints? Overall impressions: It is true that...
Read the full review →The Tivo Premiere has become my default internet video source. The ability to type in any url of a video and have it streamed to the TV is outstanding. I watch most of my video podcasts this way. The Premiere works well with OTA and cable TV. Doesn't work with DirecTV or Dish.

The added apps like Netflix, Youtube, and Pandora seem like add ons and aren't as good as they could be or as well integrated....
Read the full review →Ok, I work for a cable company and I love my Tivo Premiere. That should tell you all you need to know. Extremely easy to use, high WAF (Wife Approval Factor), and keeps adding features. Netflix and Hulu work well, but not as good as the PS3 that sits next to it. The remote is easy to use but...
Read the full review →I switched from DirecTV to cable recently after 14 years on the dish; I did it to save money and because I'm creeping closer to cutting the cord and getting more and more content online. The TiVo is the ideal gateway drug to Cord-Cutting. It seamlessly integrates television and internet content...

Read the full review →Been a faithful Tivo user since the original Phillips version many years ago. Having purchased 10 or so, I consider myself a pretty loyal and happy customer --- however, it isn't perfect, particularly when paired with Time Warner cable and their beloved tuning adapters. I'm a big fan of my...
