- Ease of use Tivo's classic interface (not the one on the Premier/Series 4) is by far the most intuitive and easiest but still broad enough to get creative with wish lists.
- Design and form factor No comments
- Storage capacity Original HD model internal drive is too small for me, so I upgraded it. The HD XL model has 1TB though, which is great.
- Expandability Somewhat simple for a moderately geeky person to upgrade the internal SATA drive; or, if you don't mind paying for it, the Tivo external drive works great.
- Other features (networking, etc.) No comments
Detailed review
Tivo is the king of DVR interfaces (at least the classic UI is, the new Premier interface looks like it still needs some debugging). I've used AT&T Uverse, Dish Network and DirecTV DVR's and I still would go with the classic Tivo UI given the option.
The biggest problem with this machine is the reliance on CableCards which my local provider, TimeWarner, did a horrible job of supporting. So much so that I finally had to shelve my Tivo HD and go to DirecTV. :o(
