Once it gets its hooks in me, it changes my daily routine -- offering enough incitements to improve my exercise at such a gentle level that I don't resent it. ... I know I'm not doing it just for myself; as I lose weight and became more active, I am paying it forward to those in even greater need.

The hardest part of exercise might not be the physical part, but getting yourself motivated to do it at all. The Striiv clears that hurdle beautifully by not only logging your walking, running, and climbing activity, but by giving you challenges and letting that activity earn you badges, play special games on the attractive color touchscreen, and even donate to charity by redeeming the "energy points" you've accumulated. It might not have the robust metrics of other smart pedometers like the Fitbit Ultra or the Nike+ Fuelband, but it's certainly a lot more fun.

In short, if you’re shopping for a pedometer, don’t settle for dry data. Find a device that motivates you to move. The Striiv has it, and I saw nothing but raves from the people using them.

Read the full review →Overall, Striiv is superbly designed for the $99 price tag. In a world where physical activity is always in direct competition with virtual activity, this device marries the two with a great result.
Read the full review →The Striiv takes a very healthy activity like running, walking and stair climbing and turns it into a motivation tool for donating to worthy charities and earning points to play cute games. It’s making me walk more and skip the elevator, so I think it’s a winner.
