As a Pebble backer, I was disappointed to find out that Spotify's Android app couldn't be controlled by Pebble. Luckily the wonderful and talented Hexxeh, of Chrome OS hacking fame, is to the rescue. http://blog.hexxeh.net/projects I can't try it yet because my Pebble hasn't shipped, but hopefully it will work for you lucky few who have yours. P.S. If you care about Pebble working with Spotify you can take action here:...

So with rumors swirling about Apple starting up it's own Pandora/Spotify competitor, I got to thinking. "Hey.... how can Google compete with something like that? They currently don't have any partnerships anywhere near the level that Apple does and frankly... Google Music could use some exposure". I'm not a professional, but I am a consumer and as such I sometimes think about "matches made in heaven" between tech companies and so far, I'm liking Google and MOG. They're both underdogs with GREAT...

About six months ago I asked gdgt users whether they preferred streaming services like Spotify, RDIO, and Rhapsody, or locker services like Google Music and Amazon Cloud Player (http://gdgt.com/question/poll-music-lockers-or-st... I'm not holding out hope that someone will combine the two in any meaningful way (i.e. a service where I can stream anything from their catalog and also upload any music of mine that's missing), so what I really want is something...

I've noticed this on more than one occasion. I get a phone call while in the middle of streaming music from either Pandora or Spotify. I answer the call, and then hang up. iPhone goes back to playing music, but now it's stuttering. Only when you actually fire up the app again that the music will start playing fine again.
Anyone else experiencing this? FYI this happens even if you don't have any other apps running in the background.
Alright, music lovers. Spotify is finally coming to the United States. Are you going to signup for an account? What services are you using? Do you think they have a fighting chance with the likes of Pandora, Rdio, Grooveshark, Last.FM, and even Google Music / Amazon Music already established here? Via: http://blogs.ft.com/fttechhub/2011/07/spotify-will...
I haven't used Rhapsody before, but I know a number of people love it. I'm anxiously awaiting Spotify to be released here in the States. I used it for a bit last year before my account was locked down, but it was fantastic and is something I definitely would consider paying for. Seeing as how Rhapsody has many of the same features that Spotify has (multiple clients for mobile devices, desktop client for streaming music, the ability to cache music and listen to it offline), I'm...
I have to say, I looove this software. I've been using it for over a year and I can't wait for the US launch. I've been hearing that the labels want to severely handicap the software when it comes over, but that would be a terrible shame. Anyways, are you guys using this software? Excited for the US launch?
It's still invite only in a few European countries (UK, Spain, France, and Sweden I believe?). But have you been lucky enough to get an invite and try it? I'm pretty impressed! The musical selection was definitely decent, and the ability to create playlists and have access to on-demand music all the time was great. Has anyone had a chance to try the iPhone app yet? (Which is for premium users only.) Unfortunately, I can't use Spotify anymore since my location (CA) does not match my...

I'm in possession of a Windows Phone Mango Device, an Xbox 360, and a BlackBerry Playbook (It was a gift, don't judge me). What I want to know is if I am better off using a service like Spotify which has no proprietary requirements or should I go totally Microsoft and get a Zune Pass? Either way I am looking for a Spotify-like service to phase out iTunes or Zune music purchasing.
Is there an iOS app that can suscribe to music blogs like the Peel app for the Mac? I'm looking for something that can keep me updated on the latest songs from the music blogs that I suscribe to.
I am looking at Spotify and Zune Pass. At the moment I don't have a smartphone, so I won't be using it for mobile, and if I were to get a smartphone, I would get a Windows Phone. So which one should I choose?
It's been a long time coming -- but more of my friends are using Spotify now and I feel that Rdio's desktop and mobile apps could be a lot better. Plus, they've poorly transitioned to iOS 5 (tons of bugs and constantly losing my storage).
Has anyone who has been a paid subscriber of Rdio made the switch over to a paid Spotify account? What do you think? Is it worth it?
I am currently using Spotify solely because they have PayPal payment support, but Rdio says they'll have that soon, if they get it, should I switch? It look to be a much more attractive service.
Today Spotify updated their TOS, most important to me is the free subscription which has been changed. The Spotify Service can be accessed (i) as an ad-supported free-to-the-user service having no monthly cap on listening hours or a cap on number of plays of a unique track during the first 6 months following creation of your Spotify account but thereafter a cap of 10 listening hours per month and a cap of 5 plays per unique track (the “Free Service”), I will probably listen for my 6 months at...

I've been noticing an increasing number of friends and coworkers passing around links to share their playlists (and favorite albums) in Spotify. It's interesting to see -- but as someone who's been a fan of Rdio since before Spotify's U.S. release (honestly, I'm not trying to pull some sort of hipster street cred card), it's frustrating. I've long thought Rdio's execution and service is better (though they don't offer a generous free component like Spotify does). So, what gives? How come you're...

I've been hooked on Spotify since it launched in the US several weeks ago, and it turns out they have an official webOS app that's actually pretty good: https://developer.palm.com/appredirect/?packageid=com.palm.app.spotify Unfortunately it hasn't been updated to work with the TouchPad, which means you can't install it from the HP App Catalog. The good news: if you're comfortable with tweaking your TouchPad, you can manually load the app onto the device. Your TouchPad needs to be in developer mode...

In Spotify, all my Asian songs that use Japanese or Chinese characters show up as squares and it's annoying while they show up fine in Zune player. Any of y'all know a fix for this issue? Here's a link to what it looks like: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/jwrcVWsoS8B-... Also, the problem also exists sometimes with folder names within Windows. Thanks for your help!
I just got my Spotify invite, and I realize that I haven't read much about it in the gdgt community. Are people liking Spotify? What are your initial impressions?
Spotify will not load commercials which will not allow me to play any additional songs. Is anyone experiencing the same problem? After I close and re-open the program it works fine, which is a pain but it works ...sort of.
I have a Spotify premium account that I wanted to connect to my Sonos system, but when I go into Music Services to try and add it it's just not an option. The list goes straight from SiriusXM to Stitcher. I've tried updating and even reinstalling the desktop software, but nothing works. I thought maybe something would be messed up in my profile (like maybe it listed as me as being in a country where Spotify isn't available), but everything was correct there. I'm totally perplexed, any other...
I'm hearing some rumors today that Facebook may soon launch their own streaming music service with Spotify. They would make an interesting couple. Spotify finally gets to launch in the US and have easy access to millions more users and Facebook gets a service that puts them in direct competition with Google, Apple, Microsoft, Rdio, Pandora, and a host of other services. It's no secret that I've previously been impressed with Spotify (though that's now been replaced by my love of Rdio)....

It sounds like Spotify is finally wrapping up some deals with various record labels that will allow them to launch in the United States sometime in the near future (we heard this in early 2010 as well). Initially, I was quite excited about this service -- it sounded like exactly what I was looking for: great interface, pretty decent (and growing) music library, ability to create playlists and listen to any music on demand, mobile apps (with offline syncing abilities). Then, at the end of this...
