Seeing as how it’s only $100, the Sound Kick is an excellent buy. It’s available starting this week exclusively from Soundfreaq’s website and at Target stores, but a Soundfreaq spokesperson tells me the Sound Kick will make its way to other retail outlets in the coming months.

The Soundfreaq Sound Kick sets a new bar for sub-$100 Bluetooth speakers — at least as far as sound quality is concerned. Compared to other budget speakers, it provides great sound, and can be played at reasonably high volumes without distortion. However, it's bulkier than a lot of other portable speakers, doesn't include a speakerphone, and can't be charged over USB (though it does include a USB port, so you can use it to charge your smartphone). If you don't need a speakerphone or a pocket-sized speaker, and don't want to spend too much, the Sound Kick is a good choice.
