Looking for a new laptop for grad school (economics) and it seems like I just can't find the right one. The MBA looks and feels amazing, but I like to game on the go between study sessions (mainly Magic Online which doesn't have a Mac client) and I'm worried about proper spreadsheet support+any statistical package my professors decide to use. I have the disc and it wont let me load it. I think it has something to do with the graphics card. The installation fails and the screen becomes distorted and pink. I can't boot Ubuntu 11.04 at all. Will Ubuntu recognize the manual graphics card physical switch that the Z series has?

I've considered the MBP 13 inch but it's heavy and lacks a dedicated graphics (I'm a moderate gamer and like FPS's). A Mac Air 13 inch uses last gen tech. What are the options?
