Sony's first Ultrabook boasts a budget-friendly price and an attractive design, but it's not the highest-performing or longest-lasting system out there.
Read the full review →Conclusion: We're mixed
Sony's first Ultrabook is a budget model with average performance, a good display, and a reasonable weight of 3.3 pounds. Like Lenovo did with its recently released IdeaPad U310, Sony has cut some corners to keep prices down, forgoing niceties like a backlit keyboard and high-resolution display. Unlike Lenovo, Sony offers a version with a solid-state drive as an option, though this pushes its price well above the budget category. Sony has also included Intel's fast Ivy Bridge processors as an option for U.S. customers, something that early European models lacked.

A fast, attractive productivity partner and the best value we've seen in the ultrabook segment so far.
Read the full review →Sony's first Ultrabook, the VAIO T13, offers an elegant design and fast third-generation Core i5 performance, but the battery life could be better.
Read the full review →The Sony VAIO T13 delivers most of what you expect from an Ultrabook with some popular consumer features at a surprisingly affordable price.
Read the full review →For those on a budget, the Sony Vaio T13 is certainly worth a consideration. It’s fast and offers a good amount storage. But if possible, I’d definitely recommend going into a store and trying out the keyboard to see if it’s to your liking.
Read the full review →The all-metal Sony VAIO T13 (SVT13114GXS) ultrabook seeks the perfect mix of design, functionality, and performance, and mostly succeeds. However, similarly priced rivals shine just a bit brighter on features and performance.
Read the full review →In fact, if all you’re looking for is a slimline machine to take out and about with you, to keep up with your social networks, listen to some music or catch up with the BBC iPlayer then the Sony Vaio T13 could be perfect.
Read the full review →If you’re after the most affordable big-brand Ultrabook you can get, the base configuration of the Sony VAIO T13 is the undisputed winner right now. It’s a well-built machine with only weight as its major downside.
Read the full review →At £679/$769.99, it only really has two rivals: the Novatech nFinity 2367 Plus and the Acer Aspire S3. And while it can't quite match that duo for speed and performance, its build and design blows them out of the water.
Read the full review →Screen quality remains disappointing, as it is with all the other low-end Ultrabooks, but if you’re craving a thin-and-light laptop on the cheap, the Sony VAIO T13 is the best of the current crop.
Read the full review →As one of the cheapest Ultrabooks around, the T13 looks like great value. It might lack the power of a similarly priced 15in model, but if portability is a real concern you get plenty for your money here.
Read the full review →Maybe the only drawback is the display brightness and contrast. It would also be better if the keyboard was backlit.
