Sony's new portable eclipses Nintendo's latest on more battlefields than ever before, outclassing it not only in graphical output, but in touchscreen technology, controls and button layout, user interface design and, perhaps most importantly, game selection at launch.

Conclusion: We like it
The Playstation Vita has top-notch graphics, a massive 5-inch touchscreen display, WiFi and 3G versions, multiplayer gaming, and an impressive lineup of games. If you're content with Angry Birds on your smartphone, the Vita may not be for you. But if you want a true console experience that you can take almost anywhere, this is as good as it gets.

Overall, the PlayStation Vita is the most advanced portable gaming system ever made. While the price is deceiving because of a hidden cost, gamers are getting an impressively complete package right out of the gate.
Read the full review →While there is still more work to be done to make the Vita all that it can be, this is a much more impressive start than I had expected. In terms of ethos and delivery Sony have come a long way since the PSP launched back in 2005.
Read the full review →All told, the PlayStation Vita is an excellent handheld gaming console that’s worth paying for if you demand more from your mobile gaming experience than smartphone or tablet games can provide.
Read the full review →It offers the most power, the widest variety of input methods, and the most convenient method of getting new games, of any handheld system in history.
Read the full review →With both phones and laptops creeping up on the traditional turf of the computer, the Vita feels uncomfortably without a place that makes sense, falling short of either side—it's not out-phoning your phone or out-consoling your console.
Read the full review →I want to love this device and I suspect a dedicated gamer will find it far superior to any other device, the Nintendo 3DS included. But I feel this will be the last iteration of the “dedicated gaming” handheld we see.
Read the full review →Why buy a Vita in what’s quickly become a smartphone/tablet world? Because you want to play serious, console-style games (with console-style controls) on the go. That’s the Vita’s exclusive promise at launch, anyway.
Read the full review →If the Vita is going to be an argument for the worth of dedicated handhelds, then it is a nearly perfect argument.
Read the full review →Right now, the PS Vita is an amazing piece of hardware with an impressive launch lineup and software that hints toward a bright future, but until Sony addresses concerns about the price, it is destined to appeal to only a niche audience.
Read the full review →PlayStation Vita excels with its excellent graphics, a superb 5in screen, dual-analogue and touch screen controls and a host of other goodies. The PlayStation Vita narrows the gap between console and handheld, and reminds you why a dedicated mobile gaming device is a good idea.
Read the full review →Most handhelds have had to offer altogether different types of experiences than you find on the traditional consoles, but the Vita takes the opposite approach, striving to take what works on the PS3 and make it work in a smaller, portable format.
Read the full review →For now, it's just a fantastic, if pricey portable games machine, and as fantastic, pricey portable gamers, that will certainly do us.
Read the full review →I believe if gamers get a chance to play with the Vita, they may think twice about playing games on their iPhones.
Read the full review →First day of use quite impressive.. I should have gotten the 3G version..
Read the full review →If there were more games at launch my rating would have been higher. I bought two for my young sons (7 and 5 years old) and there was only a couple games at launch that I would let them play. I am happy with the design and like the touch screens feel and sharp response. I might buy one for...

Read the full review →I would break down the unit into three parts, the unit's hardware and operating system, gameplay, and accessory applications. SYSTEM The Sony engineeers hit a homerun with the design and manufucturing of this device. While they made a trade-off on portability for usability, it works for me....
Read the full review →The Vita is a highly underrrated device, with a library that mainly consists of older PSP and PSone titles with few titles available to show off its prowess, especially if you aren't in Japan. Hopefully now that it's selling more than the Wii U there, and the promises of PS4 synergy, will make it...
Read the full review →In a world full of smartphones and iPads this is easily my favorite portable gaming device so far. Sure, my iPhone wins hands down for fun little time wasters, and it has some wonderful games—but it just can't compare to what a dedicated system can offer, with physical buttons and bigger budget...
Read the full review →GAMEPLAY The original PSP was a big step in processing power for a handheld. It looked better than the dated PSone, but not as good as the then-top-of-the-line PS2. Much like the PSP, the Vita is better than the system from the previous console cycle (the PS2), but not quite as good as the...
Read the full review →So far I love it, best handheld videogame system. But I'm worried about the memory cards since they are way too expensive, so it's kind of a shot in the foot if you want to buy digital games.
