The Playstation Portable, also known as PSP, is Sony's first handheld gaming system that is currently in its third iteration (the PSP 3000). It's actually a fairly powerful system able to recreate graphics better than the PS1 console, and at times on par with the PS2. As well as playing games, the PSP is a multimedia system with music and video support. It has acquired much flack over its smaller games library (as compared to the Nintendo DS) and its inability to effectively handle FPS games due to a lack of a second analog stick. Overall, however, the system has sold surprisingly well in and outside the United States despite actual software sales being staggered.
