Sony really has come through with a smaller, lighter, quieter, and more energy-efficient piece of hardware, and at $300, even if your sole interest is a Blu-ray player, it's a hard value to beat.

While the PS3's integrated Blu-ray player offers less value now that standalone players are now going for as little as $60, the PS3 remains a solid gaming platform. The arrival of the PlayStation Vita portable console makes it even more attractive, since you can now take compatible games on the road.
