Price of the Next Generation of Video Games
Talk of the next generation of home consoles is starting to appear on nearly every video game website. It got me thinking about what the price will be per game. With every generation, the prices of games have increased by $10.
Now I don't know about everyone out there, but $59.99 is my limit and the game has to amazing for me to even consider purchasing it at that price. I do most of my shopping on Amazon.com and I wait for their video game sales.
Yet I can't say that I feel confident that games...

Xbox 360 hits 55 million units
Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 has hit 55 million units sold, and that its sales are accelerating not only disproportionately to its competition, but to any console ever at this period in its lifecycle. The Sony / PSN 'external intrusion' news keeps getting worse.

Sony now allowing saving to the cloud for PSN Plus subscribers.
Alright, this is something that has been a long time coming -- saving your games in the cloud! This is especially helpful, considering if the HDD in your PS3 decides to die, you're basically screwed (unless you've been meticulous about backing up your saves). Look like Sony is escalating its war against all things related to George "GeoHot" Hotz, who published Sony's encryption key for the PlayStation 3. Last week, they won a decision to acquire the IP addresses of anyone who visited GeoHot's website or viewed his YouTube videos between January 2009 and March 4th, 2011. i never use it and it's no guessing why. the ps3's web browser is the worst browser i've ever used.
(sometimes i get lazy and don't feel like going to my computer, hence the ONLY reason i attempt to use this p.o.s.) i feel as though there's some hidden option that i'm not selecting or something for the reason why it's so bad. a simple task like facebook, which mind you is on the home page of the internet when you log onto the browser is complete anus! i put my username and password in and i get the logo, icons at the top of the page and A WHITE SCREEN. i thought it could...

so now that netflix is getting rid of the add to dvd option while using a streaming device i can only think of the negatives.

Three things I love about the PS3 that have nothing to do with games:
1. The XMB. It is a much cleaner and easier way to navigate. Now, once you get into the Playstation Store it is a mess just like Xbox Live. But, the XMB is where you will spend most of your time. 2. Using an old laptop as a "media server" and streaming video to the PS3 using PS3 Media Server. So far this has worked very well with my Mac and PC. So, I'm currently streaming a True Blood (in .avi form) episode from my Mac to my PS3 and I'm very very impressed.
I think I may have just replaced the laptop I was using with Boxee.

Shouldn't the older models be called 'Sony PlayStation 3 Original' and the slim just 'Sony PlayStation 3'?

So I love my ps3 but one thing has bothered me a bit lately it seems like every time I get a new game my ps3 tells me it must download an update for that game…
before I can play. I like the idea that developers can make fixes to a game after it ships but come on every game? A lot of the updates are not small eather the last thing you want to do when you get a new game home is wait 30 min for it to update before you can play.

Sony's 3D offerings so far....
I spent some time in the Sony Style store in Dallas yesterday looking at the 3D offerings. I saw three different techniques: 3D on blu-ray, a hybrid 2D/3D HDTV (no glasses needed), and 3D on the PS3. For 3D on blu-ray, they had a demo disc running that had screensaver type images running in a short continuous loop. The 3D looked pretty good once you got it to work. They had a table behind the TV full of about 10 sets of 3D glasses. People would walk up, try them on, and then shake their heads....

About PS3 firmware update 3.
40 I updated to the new 3.40 firmware last night and didn't see many changes. Two items I saw were an updated picture gallery that allowed for Picasa and Facebook uploads and a video editor program that allowed you to edit local videos and upload them to Facebook or Youtube. The only other changes I read about are the ability to get PlayStation Plus and rate PlayStation Store purchases. I may get PlayStation Plus once I see what kind of content they offer after a few months since I buy lots...
