This is a fat, 80gb, four usb, backwards compatible (model CECHE01) fat PS3. I bought it used in fall 2008, so four years on a used console doesn't seem so bad. I love how it looks, having the sd card slot, four usb ports and I even stuffed a 500gb hard drive into it about a year and a half ago. I haven't used the backwards compatibility since 2009, so that feature lost its luster a long time ago. I have been having some recent issues with my PS3 and decided to back it up about 2 weeks ago, so...

So I'm here in a tiny dorm style room in Australia for the next two years and there's no wifi. Because of that, many of my wifi depedent devices are useless. What's a good router to have that's primary useage is networking my devices together (ex: streaming a movie from my laptop to my ps3)? Also, is it a standard feature in routers to be able to connect to a VPN? (Sorry if that sounded really stupid...I'm dumb when it comes to networking) I want my router to be able to connect to a VPN (if...

Microsoft unveiled their Xbox SmartGlass tablet software yesterday at E3. This software will allow for users to interact with certain elements of their Xbox console from their tablets. For instance, the user might be able to more easily control streaming videos or get extra data and usability from their games through menus on the tablet. These applications will communicate with the console in real time, instead of being a standalone application like previous apps such as Halo Waypoint. This...

Like what the title says, I'm moving to Australia for work in July and I have a bunch of tech (mostly game related) that I'm worried will become useless in Australia. If I get an NTSC to PAL converter for my PS2 and Dreamcast (I still have a couple games I gotta finish), will I be sacrificing picture quality?
Since the PS3 and Xbox 360 both use HDMI, can I use it on a PAL TV or will I have to get a monitor with HDMI ports?
If I get on PSN or Xbox Live from Australia will it automatically switch to...
Recently, after about a year of owning my PS3 (slim model), I actually completely filled up my "320 GB" hard drive that came with it (I say that with quotation marks being that you only get to use about 298 gigabytes of it). That was mostly due to demos I just left on my hard drive, but I know that I'll top-up again being that I'm looking to buy more downloadable games, which are getting bigger and bigger, and I want to include some more music & videos, which will all easily add up. I know...

I recently bought a Roku 2 XS for bedroom viewing of netflix, amazon instant and pandora. I live in a townhouse with thick walls and 2 sets of stairs. My router is on the main floor and though I realized that the connection would be slower upstairs than the main floor, watching netflix has become impossible when someone is watching on the tv in the living room. I have a solid router, surround sound sets for both tvs and have tried moving around the Roku with no improvement. Tips and advice are...

I am planning to buy a console and I am confuse between the console wars. I have experienced a X360 before since its a hit in my town and seriously no one owns a PS3 here. The reason I am confused is the distinctive features of PS3 like bluray player and exclusive FIFA Interactive World Cup mode in FIFA series on PS3 version. But i have played Gears of Wars a lot and a lot xbox for fifa . What should i do ? AM i losing other than this features if I prefer to buy X360 because this console is...
I've got a PS3, and a bunch of games for it that I do enjoy playing. However, I've also got an Xbox 360, with a much larger amount of games. And the need for a new laptop. Is it worth sacrificing a PS3 that I use once in a while for Blu-Rays, and exclusive games, for a couple hundred bucks towards a new MacBook?
Most PSN content DLC are region locked, meaning a region 1 game won't work with the region 2 DLC which you got off from a UK account for example. However, it is not always the case and in some cases Region 1 and 3 content as compatible . I live in a country where they import mixed region PS3 games. So even if I use the US PSN account, I have to buy region 1 or 3 games. Is there any website that shows which DLC are compatible between regions?
I got a 3D LED Samsung TV that comes with a free BD 3D movie. I wanna try out the TV's 3D capability but my PS 3 does not support 3D viewing. Is there a software update or any of the sort that I can do?
Sony just released the new software but I'm hearing it's bricking some people's consoles. Has anyone downloaded it yet? I'm wondering if I should hold off.. I already have a finicky failing unit as it is.
Signed up for Playstation Plus last night and my credit card went through just fine, but later when I went to add some funds to my wallet so I could buy some games, it failed. And has been failing since. Even tried a different credit card and it's still failing. Nothing is wrong with my bank and both cards are functioning as normal.
Ideas for why this is happening? I'd rather not have to deal with the hassle of buying prepaid cards.
Setting aside my insistence not to support Sony, I begrudgingly picked up a PS3 on Black Friday once I learned that I could play classic favorites like Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape and Final Fantasy VII again.
Besides the obvious well known ones like the Uncharted or God of War series, what must-have PS3 exclusives should I pick up?
Hey guys, so I recently had to sell my 23" gaming monitor that I used with my PS3 to afford a new computer. I can no longer play the PS3 (without having it in the living room across the house), so I'm looking for an alternative. I have heard of many people playing their game consoles through their computer/laptop displays, and I want to know how to do it. I know some PCs have HDMI INPUTS, and that would work, but they're quite rare and I don't have that luxury. I have heard things like Dazzle...
