The PS3 is the hub of my entertainment center. I use it as a Blu-Ray player, I play awesome games such as LittleBIGPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Infamous, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty. They also have a great lineup of smaller downloadable games on their Playstation Network like Flower, Super Stardust HD, Pixel Junk Monster, Pixel Junk Eden, and Fat Princess (coming soon).
Me and my wife often rent movies from the PSN (HD & SD) or I stream them from my computer over the network. We also often watch Hulu.com and Youtube.com from the web browser.
The PS3 allows you to use any bluetooth headset with all of their online games (online network is FREE) to communicate with other players or for voice/video chat. The hard drive in the PS3 is also replaceable with any 2.5 (Laptop HD) hard drive. I updated my HD to 500GB for $120 and now I locally store movies, music and pictures on my PS3.
Sony is constantly updating the OS allowing for more and more upgrades and improvements (usually quarterly).
All in all I'm very happy with my PS3 and so is my wife. She was really reluctant to bother with the PS3 at first, now she turns it on and uses it herself.
