Detailed review
The Playstation 3 (PS3) brings a slew of exclusive gaming titles, groundbreaking technologies, jaw-dropping visuals, and a free online service making it the must-have for any owner looking for the hi-def experience of a lifetime.
Exclusive titles:
With games such as LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2, inFamous, Buzz!, Singstar, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and several others coming soon, the PS3 offers a variety of games for everyone from the casual families to the hardcore gamers.
Blu-Ray:
This is every console owner's must-have blu-ray player. Not only do you get an amazing gaming machine, but you get the best blu-ray player included. Crisp, detailed 1080p movies will blow your mind away as you sit in front of your HDTV hearing the explosions in your surround sound theater. I have purchased so many great movies and every single time I watch one, I am blown away. Some particular favorites of mine are Transformers, Wall-E, Ratatouille, The Pirates of the Carribean series, and The Departed. You will not be disappointed!
Media The PS3 has several media types ranging from pictures to music to videos and all of this can be streamed straight from your computer. By downloading programs such as PS3 Media Server, TVersity, PlayOn as well as many others, you can be watching your NetFlix movies right on your PS3. If you want to hear music, you can also copy some of your music files onto a USB drive, plug them in, and drop them and listen to the song (some games have built-in music players (Burnout Paradise is an example)).
The Playstation Network: Unlike Microsoft's Xbox Live which you have to spend money on, the PSN is free. You have the ability to go to The Playstation Store, play Playstation Home, or chat with your buddies and see what they are playing.
The Playstation Store offers both videos and games. The games page shows you the newest demos, trailer videos, themes, content, and PSN games available for the PS3. It's nicely designed and easy to navigate. With the PSN games, you have more games added to your library. These games are mostly exclusive to the Playstation platform, and I recommend picking up some of them (Flower, Pixeljunk Eden, and Burn Zombie Burn! come to mind). They are cheaper games than your retail games, but they still hold great playability. If you want to buy or rent a movie, go up to the very top tab, hit videos, and there you will have all the latest popular movies both HD and SD.
Playstation Home is in in-game world where players can chat amongst other gamers socially. From dancing to bowling to playing the arcade to shopping online to visiting unique game places, it has everything for the social networkers out there. Check it out when you get the chance! It's totally free.
Lastly for the PSN, we have our friends. You can go into any game and add anyone to your friend's list with their unique PSN IDs. This will prompt them to become your friend. Once you are friends, you can see what they are playing, all the trophies they have collected, invite them to a video chat, or join the game they are currently playing. The Playstation 3 makes it easy to join anyone you know.
With the Dualshock 3 in your hand, and the sixaxis technology the driving force of the controller, you will experience immersing gameplay with vibrating controls. Using the sixaxis technology you can tilt your controller inside of the game. This function provides great puzzle solving for great games.
All in all, I highly recommend this console. With so many options at your fingertips, you will have plenty of do for quite some time. Happy gaming!
