Detailed review
I received my first PS3 as a birthday present nearly 3 years ago. Because of the library of PS2 games I have it needed to be the compatible player. I truly have never looked back. While I have only a 50" Toshiba DLP 720p rear projection TV I have calibrated it to proper spec so the picture looks better than average. My first Blu-Ray was "Night at the Museum" and we have never looked back. My 7 year old would say "Look Dad, 'Bolt' is out on Tuesday... and it is on Blu-ray!" As for games, there is a wide variety of games that appeal to the kids as well as the adults. My personal favorite are the Ratchet and Clank series that we all have turns on and get many hours of enjoyment from.

We have since expanded our inventory to 3 PS3s. One for every TV as they are the fastest loading disc player that still sits in the affordable bracket. Load time for Pirates of the Caribbean on the slowest PS3 is only about 10-15 seconds, where I have seen the same disc that I use as a test disc load on a dedicated Blu-ray player take almost a minute or longer.

For a technical review look to CNET or other labs, but for our household the PS3 is the machine to beat.
