If you've ever seen an OLED TV, you'd you'd remember it. Same can be said about 4k. Combine the two together and you truly have a sight to see -- which is exactly what Sony has done.

The prototype set offers 3840-by-2160 Ultra HD resolution on a 56-inch OLED display. It's just a prototype, but it's a very pretty one.

I watched the TV while it was playing Sony's optimized content, but even considering the setup, the screen was mesmerizing. Or at least that's what I think.

The picture was almost hyper-real, as vibrant as you would expect OLED to be but then with more clarity than you can imagine any display to be capable of ... It might just be a prototype, but we want Sony to build this one and fast.

The higher frame rate video in particular looked fantastic, without a hint of the "soap opera effect" that often plagues footage that's up-converted to a higher FPS.

In particular, the way the screen can produce seemingly infinitely deep blacks without a hint of backlight inconsistency and hold on to even the tiniest of costume details no matter how frenetically the costume’s wearer might be dancing is nothing short of revelatory.
