I wore these for years when I commuted to work on BART (The SF Bay Area transit system). Noise levels in these trains can be loud and if you crank up the volume with your iPod earbuds you will damage your hearing. The best solution is to get some of these affordable noise-canceling headphones....

I use this allot at the gym, (even if I am the only one there using studio headphones). They just work though, the gym gets quite loud, and once I turn on my mp3 player, I only hear the music, which is what I expected and what these headphones do. Also as an added bonus, unlike most...
