Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a mid-range to high-end DSLR, and I know absolutely nothing about the cameras, brands, or photography itself. Let me make this clear though, I will learn. I don't do anything halfway, so please don't be concerned about how advanced the devices may be, or how high the learning curve is. That said, what makes the difference when you folks purchase a camera? Are there reasons behind brand loyalties in this sector? How about lens ecosystems, how important are those?...

Who's in the market for a new HDTV? Not me, that's for sure. After hearing that this will likely only be useful for people with tvs that have come out very recently I think it's a bummer. I guess this is how Roku gets out of the set top box market--because if it doesn't look like a set top box, but it plays like a set top box and smells like a set top box, maybe it isn't a set top box? Because, you know, people hate set top boxes. I agree that buying a Smart TV isn't a good decision with how fast...

While it won't be released in the U.S. until February, many are already questioning how successful a dedicated portable gaming device will be in the face of growing popularity of gaming on smartphones and tablets. Do you think the game quality on the Vita will be worth the cost when it's become clear that many people are content to play games on their iOS or Android device?
Do you plan on buying a Vita?
If you have an iOS or Android device and play games on it and also intend to buy a Vita, will...
Talk of the next generation of home consoles is starting to appear on nearly every video game website. It got me thinking about what the price will be per game. With every generation, the prices of games have increased by $10. Now I don't know about everyone out there, but $59.99 is my limit and the game has to amazing for me to even consider purchasing it at that price. I do most of my shopping on Amazon.com and I wait for their video game sales. Yet I can't say that I feel confident that games...
Today, Sony came over at the university I attend and showed off the PlayStation 3 3D Display. It's not going to be out until November but the Sony employees were confident that it'll be out before Black Friday considering that it's the biggest shopping day of the year. I thought the 24" 3D monitor was actually pretty nice! It is really slim and the 3D effect is pretty good. The glasses were comfortable, light, and looked pretty nicely as well. I wasn't able to try out the special 2 player mode...

Via @Lulzsec on Twitter: "1,000,000+ unencrypted users, unencrypted admin accounts, government and military passwords saved in plaintext. #PSN compromised." Sounds like they didn't learn their lesson the first time their databases were breached. Tons of stuff was still stored in plain text. Awesome. I was really surprised but pleased that Apple went with such defined edges on the iPhone 4. Sony just needs to look at some of their past designs and they might actually start making interesting products again.
Just got a new update for Sony NSZ-GT1. Now the Android marketplace page loads-it used to error https://market.android.com/ . Have to try installing an app! This could be really cool!
According to the latest from Joystiq: "Here's what's in the definitely jacked column: "name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID." Our takeaway: you'd better start changing passwords if you use the same one frequently. We'll leave the decision on whether or not to pack your bags and move away up to you. In the possibly jacked column: "profile data,...

I am looking for something I can play games on and watch 3D movies while my wife is blissfully watching her content in 2D.
Don't have room for another TV set so personal viewer will be perfect, if the technology is up to scratch.
Question is more around how comfortable it will be? Anyone used personal 3D viewers before? Specifically to the Sony HMZ-T1, I wear glasses full-time will it work?
I'm looking for a Cybershot, preferably W or H series, with a viewfinder. My mother would like to get a small, relatively cheap camera and she doesn't like looking at the screen to take photos. Any suggestions?
I'm looking for a laptop. But here's what I'm looking for: These are a must: NFC DLNA Bluetooth at least 1 USB 3.0 port but must have at least 2 usb ports An HDMI port (In and out if possible touch screen (possibly a convertible laptop) and a camera (for video chat. i don't plan on sing this for photography. it looks stupid) Can't be over 14 in in width, High-Res Display. Optical drive not necessary. looking for a thin laptop. Core i5 or i7 cpu, max out ram at 8 GB (can't sit pretty t 4 gb or ram) 1 gb...

We have a PS3 Slim at home and our son has a Nintendo DS Lite. We are thinking that for Christmas we will upgrade him to a PSP 3000 (which you can get for $129 at stores now) and can buy downloadable content from PSN and so forth. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3426442&fromWidget=TRU%3ACategory%3ATop+Sellers I'm not going to be buying the Vita at the current pricing, which is what you can buy a new console for, and I think downloadable content is the way to go. He loves my...

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20126473-1/could-sony-make-a-playstation-vita-phone/ Sony has to go this direction. It's really the only opportunity for them in the smartphone business. Apple knows iPhone's competition is heating up with Windows and Android, but could Sony do real damage with this beastly phone? I think they can, but the biggest downfall is the same as the Android phones with 4+inch screens: battery life. I could see the PS Vita handling calls and mobile gaming and being very...

As much as I would love to have a tablet, I think they are overpriced. I don't know much about the Kindle Fire, but it doesn't really seem to spark my interest, even at the price point. I am much more interested in the Sony tablet and the iPad 3, but curious if the PS Vita is actually the better play because of its raw power. I don't want the iPad 2 because Apple will simply release another one in March/April next year, not reduce the price on the current model more than $100 and the next...

So I've been mulling over this for some time. My NEX-5, which is my only interchangeable-lens camera at the moment, is decent. It takes some good pictures in my limited hands, although I'm left often wanting a viewfinder for the sort of picture-taking I do use it for. And to be honest, the vast majority of my picture-taking is done by my compact cameras. So the Sony comes out for 'proper pictures' - such as they are - and I've started to think that I can probably tolerate a bigger camera without...

I don't know much about headphones, but I'm looking to upgrade. So far I've only used skullcandy headphones, which I hear have terrible sound quality, though they sound ok to me. So I'm looking for something a little bit better with better durability. My budget is $100-150.
I'll be using these for gaming and music. I don't really care if they're portable or not.
I want something that can be used for calls, daily listening at work and is versatile enough for running. I don't care so much about being able to run in the rain, but if sweat could be an issue that would be annoying. I am almost 6 feet tall and have a normal size head, hopefully that isn't a deciding factor though.
I just want something that I can pair my laptop, iPhone and possibly PS3 with and not look like I have a monstrosity on my head.
Sony and Apple are as notorious for great looking, well functioning, top of the line devices as they are for making vast improvements on those devices in the 2nd and 3rd iterations. Back in college, my roommate bought a PSP-1000 for $275, only to sell it a year later for something like $200. Obviously he loved being an early adopter, but ultimately had to sell the device because the novelty wore off and he eventually the iPod Touch caught his eye. I bought a PSP-3000 about a 1.5 years ago and...

How is the battery life? Are the volume dials easy to figure out between raising and lowering the game and chat volume separately? Often times I turn off/down the chat volume because 12 year olds are annoying and ridiculous while playing Call of Duty. I really like the look of this but am curious how comfortable is it for an extended gaming/movie session. Can I pair this set with my iPhone like the really expensive turtle beach headsets? That would be a big selling point for me.
