Was the Chumby an innovative product, or a missed opportunity?

Go to the Chumby web store, and you'll get the message "the site is closed temporarily." As Engadget points out, the shutdown is actually permanent, but may not be a big deal, given that Chumby had stopped marketing its own products in 2011, opting to license its software to companies like Sony instead. Bathroom Clock Radio

I'm looking for a device to put in my bathroom. I've been looking and looking, but I can't seem to find anything that fits my requirements. I thought maybe gdgt could help. Here are my requirements:
1. Clock
2. FM Radio
3. Internet Radio (Pandora)
4. Play music from my network
5. Weather
6. Half way decent Speakers (I need to hear in when I'm in the shower)
7. Ideally I'd like it to be $100 or less, but if it's perfect I'd shell out a little more.

I just got the 1st gen Dash as a Xmas present and was strongly considering returning it even before hearing about the new one coming out.

Honestly, I don't see this platform being of any real use since most people who would use it already have smartphones. Chumby is horrid, plain and simple. Now if they put Android on this thing then we have a quality device. Anyone think that could/would happen?
