So, should you buy the world's most complicated alarm clock? It all depends on what you want to do with the Dash. If you're looking for something that can sit by your bed, play some internet radio at you, and ambiently display some Engadget headlines and photos from Facebook, the Dash is perfect. If you're looking for something to really pick up and use to browse through photos, or pick songs, or even watch movies, we'd go a different way. Despite its name, the Dash is too stationary and too slow to be valuable in those situations. quote

The Sony Dash is a fun device for tech enthusiasts looking to cram the Web into every corner of their homes, but it's not a fit for everyone.

The Sony Dash Personal Internet Viewer is a step up from the Chumby One and more visually pleasing than your standard bedside alarm clock, but it feels like a niche product that lacks focus.

Sony’s Dash really is a piece of the future. Being able to have all that power – in an alarm clock – is downright insanity. ... The only stumbling blocks are the lack of organization, slowness of the UI and the touchscreen, but even then its so easy to see why this makes an amazing gift.

I wanted a cheap Ipad I guess. I got it for the kitchen and planned on using it longer term as an alarm clock with weather, but the fact that you have to manage everything from a computer and then some of the apps don't seem to stay synced really has me down on it. I can handle the jumpy...

If you take this as what it really is (an intelligent alarm clock with the ability to stream some information) it's very good. If you are expecting a full service web client, forget it. It is very flexible with alarms, and most of the popular applications for the dash seem to work well...

By way of comparison, the competing products for the Dash are at the low end, digital photo frames and clock radios, in the middle, the Chumby, and various media streamers, and at the high end, full on tablets and smart phones. Overall, it's a lovely gadget, that works admirably. people...

Good bedside alarm clock or desktop information gatherer but not much more. Netflix app is slow but functional. Pandora app is decent but tends to crash after extended usage. Tough to find interesting apps even with over 1000 of them supposedly available.

I had high hopes for this gadget. But it has fail. It is a overpriced night stand alarm clock. I think I has potential if Sony would stand behind it. The Apps that Sony advertise are useless and a reproduction of the other app available. People often complain about having registration...
