I've owned and used several "pro-sumer" cameras for several years. From a Nikon D300, Canon S100, Fujifilm x100 with each having their own merits and weaknesses.

I like compact cameras for their obvious portability advantages. Yet its image quality left something to be desired.

I like DSLRs for their manual controls, auto-focus and excellent image quality. However, it was cumbersome to use, and I have used it less frequently because of it.

I was intrigued by mirror-less cameras, but what I really wanted was a compact that could effectively replace my DSLR.

The Sony RX100 seems to be the best compromise that I have used so far. It has consistently satisfied me with its image quality, the start-up time is quick enough for me to snap a shot when I need to. It is light and small enough to carry anywhere.

The auto-focus has not disappointed me, however its focus tracking system does get lost every once in a while.

The Sony's function key greatly reduced the time I spent in the menus by allowing multiple settings.

The reason I stopped using my DSLR was because I never had it with me when I needed it. I carry this camera in my car, and therefore I like it even more because it sees regular use.

Call me impressed, Sony has caught my attention again with the DSC-RX100.
