The 24-megapixel Sony Alpha 65 is capable of shooting at a blazing fast 9 frames per second, but is held back by a kit lens that simply can't match the quality of the high-resolution image sensor.

With its 10 frame-per-second burst mode, 24-megapixel sensor, fast live view mode, and very good full HD movies, the SLT-A65 gives competing DSLRs — including more expensive models — a run for their money. Where it falls down, however, is in low-light conditions at high ISO settings, especially when compared to higher-end DSLRs. Additionally, its electronic viewfinder, though highly functional, may turn off DSLR purists. That doesn't take away from the A65's excellent performance in good lighting conditions, and if you're looking for an high-resolution camera at a competitive price, it's well worth considering.

The Sony SLT-A65 is an exceptionally well specified camera for its class. The 24MP CMOS sensor, the OLED EVF and the 10fps continuous mode are real stand-out features in the mid-level bracket of the market.

Read the full review →The Alpha 65 is very well-specified in comparison to its rivals, matching or exceeding the competition's feature-sets in many respects. It's pricier, but we feel the impressive stack of high-end features that this camera has to offer more than outweigh its cost.
Read the full review →The A65 is still a fantastic SLT camera that is a genuine threat to the more conventional prosumer DSLRs on the market.

With an attractive, yet understated design, Sony's hidden some of its finest, most advanced imaging technology in the Alpha A65. Its 24.3-megapixel sensor can capture up to 10 frames per second and shoot Full HD video. And they didn't skimp on the special features, with Sweep Panorama and 3D capture...

I've been intrigued by the SLT concept for a while, but it took the rolling out of the 2.4MP electronic...
