  • Image quality I am not a professional photographer, but this camera definitely takes better pictures than my old Nikon P90. great!
  • Video quality Sound quality I have heard is only so-so, but the image quality of the video is great. good
  • Battery life After charging it up for 4 hours (100%), I was already down to 90% after about an hour of playing with the settings. good
  • Design and form factor It was a lot smaller than I was expecting, and the lens it came with makes it feel very front heavy. good
  • Durability With it being small I feel like it is fragile, but the build and feel of it is very sturdy. good
  • Speed (start-up time, lag) Very quick boot, under 5 seconds, and less than a second between low light shots. great!
  • Ease of use It is only so-so now as I have not familiarized myself with the camera completely and have to reference the manual a lot to figure out were certain settings are so-so
Detailed review
I have had a Nikon D40 and P90, both of which I really liked, but the D40 was getting quite old and the image quality was starting to show that. The P90 produced really good quality images, but I missed the ability to switch lenses and do more manual shots, also I did not like I could not shoot in RAW with it.

I looked at the 5N for awhile and was about to get it when I found out the 5R was coming out soon, this was about 3 months ago. So I waited and am very happy that I did. Having a camera that I can use as a beefed up point-and-shoot and then being able to take more manual control for when I do photoshoots is great.

If you have a good point-and-shoot camera but want to upgrade to something that has some more functionality without wanting to delve head-first into a full dslr, this is a great camera to look at getting. It may seem expensive, but I do not think you will see your money was well spent.
