For the time being ... we'd recommend you go with a Slingbox 350, pick up a $30 SlingPlayer app for your mobile device and be glad that the content industry hasn't figured out a way to put Sling Media out of business permanently.

The Slingbox 350 replaces the Slingbox Solo, and adds 1080p streaming (though your ability to pull in true HD streams will depend on a lot of factors, including your display and your internet connection), and a simplified setup process. Beyond that, it's a classic Slingbox, with the usual ability to stream broadcast, satellite and cable TV programming, including DVR recordings and on-demand programs, to your mobile devices and computers. If you don't need 1080p streams, the discontinued Slingbox Solo is still available, for under $100.

It would be nice if the Slingbox 350 were a bit cheaper, or, most importantly, if it included the built-in Wi-Fi found on its more expensive sibling. That said, the Slingbox 350 is still the best overall choice to stream your home TV anywhere.

Read the full review →If you're already a Slingbox user, there's not much of a compelling reason to upgrade. This particular model of Slingbox hasn't been improved on much, aside from a fresh design and the addition of 1080p video—and wireless streaming doesn't really have the bandwidth for you to even see that.

Read the full review →The Slingbox 350 especially, with its $180 price tag and no-brainer setup, could entice newcomers to place shifting.
