Only the power light will illuminate, and no amount of resetting or unplugging / replugging the unit will bring it back. I've looked at the Slingbox support forums, and there are dozens of users with the same issue and no resolution. All have the Solo, and all are about 18-24 months old. Sling has not responded to my requests for assistance with this problem.
any one have any insight on sling's product roadmap? This has been out there for a while and I want to upgrade my old sling a/v but not sure whether or not to pull the trigger. Any advice?
All of these Slingboxes are great devices and offer lots of functionality. I know they are integrating Sling technology into Echostar satellite boxes and they could eventually just integrate the hardware into cable boxes and cable modems to streamline the process. Very cool though. I love that every PC/Laptop screen I have is now a second or third TV in the room! Especially now that football is about to start up again!
This is a totally cool idea and ideal for me to view my slingbox thats in another city on the big screen. Too bad it launched at a ridiculous $299! They've dropped $100 off the price, but I think they forget its a device with basically one purpose - to view a slingbox on your tv. Most people came up with their own solutions, so you need to price it so it makes it more convenient and doesn't attack your wallet.....
Is the streaming HD video quality on your home network great or merely acceptable? Is remote viewing of HD material distinguishable from the older Slingbox models?
I bought this thing when it came out to stream sports from San Antonio to Dallas, Texas. The Slingbox was one of the coolest gadgets I had ever used and it is still probably the easiest one to use and setup. The got it right the first time and each upgrade has just been about offering increased processing and HD. I really want a PRO HD to zoom content around my house. Hey Guys, I recently got a Slingbox PRO-HD and I love it! Unfortunately the Slingplayer itself sucks because it limits the Slingbox to only one viewer simultaneously. I found VLC player + the VLC Slingbox Plugin to be an alternative to the Slingplayer, but it only works with the Slingbox SOLO model. Anyone out there with more luck? I have tried several times to connect with the Sky Box back in the UK and although I can control the channels I am getting a blank screen and the slingbox streaming bitrate is at 0 kbps. Could anyone advise me what to do to rectify this issue? Thanks in advance
