Detailed review
The Sansa Connect wasn't perfect, by any means, but it was pretty darn cool for its time. The ability to download subscription music on the go was fairly amazing before the days of the Zune. Unfortunately for this little player, it backed the wrong horse. Had it been tied to someone other than the late Yahoo! Music, I daresay I'd still be rocking this PMP. Its feature set was pretty robust - besides the Yahoo! Music tie-in you also could access Flickr and stream internet radio (Yahoo! again, of course). It had, in its last firmware, the ability to play converted videos (weak support, but still nice to have). Its interface, while a bit laggy, was crisp and decently thought out. Searching for music online became a breeze, right before the end. The hardware controls were very responsive and a tinny, but appreciated, speaker graced the rear of the device.
Sadly, the little PMP that thought it could, couldn't. Without the online connectivity, the Connect becomes a rather plain PMP. It still holds a place in my heart for what it could have been. Ah well....
