  • Picture quality Local-dimming backlight yields best blacks available on LED monitors. great!
  • Sound quality Sound quality is on the anemic side, but this shouldn't be a problem, since most consumers who buy a set in this class will be using an external audio system. so-so
  • Media support No comments
  • Other features (networking, etc.) Good overall feature set, but it's disturbing that Samsung forces you to buy an $80 proprietary dongle if you want WiFi connectivity. so-so
Detailed review
Picture quality is excellent, and this is by far the most important thing. Setup is a little tweaky but doesn't require a PhD in engineering. Recommend going the custom-settings route for picture, rather than using one of the presets. The "Auto Motion Plus 240Hz" technology reduces judder to a minimum, and the settings for this allow you to adjust it very precisely to your taste (although the default settings are pretty nice). Access to back-panel jacks is very good. On the negative side, the stand isn't is sturdy as it could be, given how much this set lists for. No HDMI cable is included. As stated above, WiFi dongle is an $80 add-on (and you can't use a third-party adapter). If you're interested in this set (and no current Samsung LED model has local dimming), buy it soon, because this now-discontinued model is disappearing from retailers' shelves and prices have been rising for several months.
