If your parents got a new tablet for Christmas, what apps are you installing for them? I realized many of my favorite apps wouldn't be useful for them, but I have installed the following:
IMDB
Flixter (for watching trailors)
Skype
TED (in hopes they watch some education videos)
YouTube
Pandora (or Slacker Radio if your in Canada)
Facebook
And if your on Android, i felt the following widgets would be handy:
Nothing but laud for this tablet in the score summary, yet the app ecosystem knocks 18 points to make the N10 barely above average, despite class leading specs and the most complete version of Android to date. Then I looked at the Reviews FAQ that Ryan Block posted to determine how gdgt assessed the gdgt score. I see that the Critic reviews do not tie into the gdgt scoring system (or if they do, I cannot look at the score, but rather am directed to the site of the Critic). Looks like bad weather isn't stopping Google http://media.gdgt.com/img/products/473/a5nt/a5nt-460.jpg Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details). I did not expect the Nexus 4 to be released off contract at such a price. $299/$350 is usually a price...
