The Android 2.1 (Eclair) DE03 update is now available from Sprint for the Samsung Moment. I just finished installing it on mine.
details
You need to download the software to your PC first. No OTA. Here's my blog post with the pertinent links and my experience with the update: http://billkos.squarespace.com/hit-journal/2010/5/... Please note that on the Sprint site the update is still listed as the Feb. CL14 update (84 MB). This is wrong, it's actually 101MB. Just go ahead and install it.

How does the screen hold up?
details
Just curious to hear from owners of this phone how well it is surviving drops. With all the stories of cracked screens on the Nexus One, and HTC's response about phones not being meant to be put in a pocket, I am souring on HTC as a brand. I have clearance to get a Sprint phone through work, which means my options are this, the Hero, or wait for the Legend (I will not buy another non-android phone henceforth). Someone here at work has a Hero and her screen busted when she dropped it onto the... Read more →

Internet Browser pulling up full web pages?
details
I carry an Android HTC G1 myself, but I sell Sprint, and everytime i sell a Moment and show the web browser it never brings up the full web pages, just the mobile version of the NYTimes for instance. Every other Android phone web browser works fine, and i thought that the browser would be standard on any Android phone? And yes, i went into settings, tried having the phone read as "android" and then as "iphone" and neither worked. I will tell customers to download steel for...

Samsung Moment Update!
details
Well, Sprint is stating that the update to 2.1 will be official. Droid will not be the only phone with 2.1 in the near future. http://twitter.com/sprint Happy to announce Android 2.0 is coming to Sprint’s Hero & Moment. Date TBD, but roughly 1H 2010. Slight clarification on Android OS updates for the HTC Hero & Samsung Moment. Will be updating straight to Android 2.1, not 2.0, in 1H2010.

Moment won't use full 800Mhz of the CPU until Android 2.0?
details
I heard a rumor that the Moment won't use the full 800Mhz processing power of the CPU until Android 2.0 (whenever that comes out.) Until then, it will be down-clocked to 528Mhz. I've not found any information online about this to confirm/deny. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Is there an online source(es)? I can't understand why this would be the case. Hopefully this is simply an incorrect rumor. Thanks! -mort

Samsung Disapointment...
details
There's no denying that next year is going to be the year Android really breaks out into the public eye. With snapdragon cpu's, Android 2.0, and tons of cool phones just around the corner on almost all of the major carriers in the states and around the world... And then there's the Samsung Moment. The phone that on paper looks like a breath of fresh air to many Android hungry individuals looking for a good phone and the US's cheapest nationwide 3g cell carrier. I mean, hardware... Read more →

Camcorder improvments?
details
I'm going to be picking this up come November 1st, with my other friend getting the HTC Hero. We are both pretty unfamiliar with Android, and I personally had a question concerning the camcorder and android: Is the camcorder functionality solely based on hardware or software, or a combination of the two? We know that the the hardware will be much more capable than Android's current phone lineup, but will that increase the quality of the recording? Generally speaking, Samsung phones... Read more →

Try both the Hero and the Moment.
details
My timing is such that my 30 day trial period will run out with AT&T before the Moments release. I have decided I'm unhappy with AT&T and want to switch to Sprint. Does anyone know if I can get the HTC Hero, and if I don't like it, get the Moment instead since it would be within Sprints 30 day trial period?

This answered my wishes...
details
I am on Sprint waiting for a phone to upgrade from the TP. I am willing to jump the Windows Mobile ship, but not the full qwerty one. Just before I decided that the Hero would be my next phone with some sacrifice... here comes the Moment. A faster processor to boot! I will miss HTC's interface though. Anyone have issues when jumping from Windows Mobile to Android? I am used to free tethering, great file management and Outlook integration. Suggestions?
