With its 10x zoom lens and image stabilization, this sub-$200 camcorder will shoot better videos than your smartphone or a fixed-lens pocket camcorder. But if you already have a digital camera that shoots HD video, you probably don't need it. Video quality is good for the price, so if you're on a budget and shoot more video than stills, it could be worth considering, though you should also look at some affordable, video-capable point-and-shoot digital cameras, such as Canon's PowerShot Elph 300 HS.
