Detailed review
8GB ain't 8GB. Only about 4.6GB is available onboard. MicroSD slot is helpful, but keep in mind ICS won't let you transfer apps to SD card, and Google Video and Google Music will only download content to the device, not to external SD. Other than this I'm quite pleased for the price. Response can be a little sluggish at times on certain apps, Netflix videos play fine but interface menus are laggy when browsing. HD DIVX videos warn that conversion may be needed when dragging from Windows desktop, but they usually play OK in stock video player or MX player although some will gradually slide audio out of sync with video. In my limited time with the device, if you come close to filling device memory, leaving only a few tens of MB, performance all around starts to get weird.
Some apps are oddly not compatible, like the Economist app. Odd.
Camera is not the best, but passable. Front camera is pretty lousy, but does what a front camera needs.
I installed Adobe Flash Player 11, and things soon went haywire, keyboard would crash, Chrome would crash, etc., had to reset to factory settings. Still not sure if Flash was the culprit but all is OK now.
Targus Truss case for the older Tab 7 models is fat and beefy, but adjustable easel positions are nice and bundle deal at Office Depot landed that case for fifteen bucks so I'm happy as I need to be.
