With the release of Windows 8 and its ecosystem of hardware near at hand, I have been thinking about the ancient (in technology years) myth of the all-purpose device. This myth is one every geek knows and dreams of. The idea of having a single device that you carry around that can meet all of the technology needs you have is one that has captured the imagination since the days of the first "portable" computers. For geeks everywhere, though, it is ultimately a dream that leaves us depressed and...

Samsung Galaxy1/2/3 & Note all have got very low battery duration
I realized that Samsung Galaxy1/2/3 or Note all have got very low battery duration, this's very cumbersome to run short of the battery charge most of the time

HTC or Samsung?
HTC ONE X or Samsung Galaxy Series? Which is better? Of course, Android system is a must. And also premium front & back camera.

Why do you think there is such a difference between Pro reviewers and regular users on this device
Do regular users buy the Hype too much? Are Pro reviewers not quite down-to-earth? Regular users seem to love this "Phablet", but the press seems to hold sway on the GDGT score.

Will the Galaxy Note Be Available On Other Carriers Besides AT&T?
I know the Galaxy Note is currently available on AT&T. I'm also aware that some have gotten it to work on the T-Mobile network after rooting and unlocking. Neither which I like doing at least until the manufacturer's warranty is up. Does anyone know if Samsung plans to make this available on other carriers? If so when?

Disparity Between Critic Reviews and Consumer Opinion
As can be seen at a glance on gdgt, there is a huge gap between what critics have said, (are saying) about this phone and what regular consumers are saying. Many critics who have attempted to predict the doom and failure of this phone have had to eat their words. Apparently there is a market for this so called “phablet” for those who do not want a tablet AND a Smartphone. I am wondering why the critics were so off the mark with this gadget.

Galaxy Note- What is your verdict??
Hi guys.
Previously the DELL streak was the first real 5 inch smartphone. Now the Galaxy note is dominating that space in my opinion. What do you guys think about 5 inch smartphones?? Are they the future??

Most smartphone users want larger screens
According to a new survey, most smartphone users want larger screens; the 4-to-4.5-inch range is apparently the sweet spot. As the former owner of both a 3.5-inch iPhone and 5-inch Dell Streak, and the current owner of a 4.5-inch Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, I'd say that sounds about right. I found the iPhone's display too small for texting, reading or watching videos (though it was fine for Angry Birds). The Dell Streak, at the time the largest smartphone in existence, was great for all of...

Guesses as to what the Galaxy Note will cost?
We now know that the Galaxy Note is indeed coming to AT&T, but unfortunately no price was announced. So gdgt, what do you think it'll cost? My guess is somewhere between $299 and $399 on contract, especially considering it's got a 5.3" screen.

Note on how to use the stylus
The Note uses a Wacom Stylus, and any wacom pc stylus will work with the note. (not the tablet ones though)
That means the following:
1) The point it draws is 1mm left or right of the stylus tip. This is so you can see what you are doing. THe settings lets you choose which hand you are using to draw
2) Correct drawing angle is like using a pen - around 20 to 45 degrees.
One of the reviews, which I can't reply to, implies you are supposed to draw at a 90 degree angle. That is incorrect and you are...

Samsung has "no plans" to bring the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Note to the US
This is disappointing news for those who were interested in checking out Samsung's latest tablets. A representative told the folks at GottaBeMobile that neither would be coming to the U.S. Were you planning on either getting one or checking one out? Mammoth Phone (reminds me of a Dell Streak 5)
Now that Samsung has announced this phone, is anyone interested in it? It's 5.3" . I used a Dell Streak 5 for about a year. I *loved* it for it's size, but it got EOL from Dell, and I think the reason that people didn't buy it was because they thought it was too large at 5".
Thoughts?
Mike.
