Rating
- Reception and call quality No comments
- Display Gets a little blue when viewing at odd angles, but otherwise it's fantastic.
- Battery life It's LTE and a big bright screen. You won't get good battery life. I deal with it.
- Camera No comments
- Ease of use Android has matured a lot and ICS is the result of years of perfecting. This is an amazing OS
- Design and form factor Haven't decided if the headphone on the bottom is good or not. It'll take some getting used to. I miss the hardware buttons.
- Portability (size / weight) For a flagship device a sturdier frame would be nice.
- Media support No comments
- Durability No Gorilla Glass, not sure how they missed this.
- Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) Nothing I can't get on any other platform.
Detailed review
I've been using Android since the first Droid came out. I've seen the progression in hardware and software and this is, by far, the most advanced. It isn't the super mega phone some would want. The camera is still a smartphone camera (compared to the significantly better iPhone 4s camera) and the battery life is sub-par on account of the LTE and luscious screen. These are things I'm willing to live with, though, to get the best Android experience out there. ICS is a major leap forward and has finally made the highly functional (but ultimately ugly) 2.X line of Android quite beautiful. Animations are butter smooth and I've only very rarely seen even the slightly hitch in performance.
As an update... over the weekend, after having the phone about a week, I noticed a lot of little scratches on the screen. Nothing that hurt the use of the phone, but was odd as my last two phones had Gorilla Glass and I had never seen a scratch on them. I was shocked to see that Samsung didn't include Gorilla Glass on this phone. It seems like a no-brainer.
