What is the best, thin profiled case for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (US version)?
details
  • Must be thin and not add bulk to the phone
  • Must protect edges / corners and not leave them unprotected (See what happens when you don't protect the edges: http://goo.gl/oAzsu !)
  • Must fit the Verizon Galaxy Nexus CDMA US version
  • Prefer a hard-case over cheap gel cases but open to exceptional suggestions
  • Must have a fine lip on the front side so that the screen is not scratched if the phone is placed face-down.
  • The following looks good but is, unfortunately, not available for the US version:...

First time Android user - got some questions?
details
Hey folks.
just ditched my old iPhone for the Galaxy Nexus. Loving it so far but there are a few things that I'm confused about.
1) The 'recent apps' key - somebody explain the concept behind it. Are there apps running in the background, eating at my battery, stealing my cpu cycles? Or, is it just saving the state in main memory? I'm always paranoid about keeping it clean as I'm worried that it might be draining my battery. Some insight please.
2) That's the big one, I guess. There are few minor... Read more →

Bluetooth remote control?
details
I have been searching for days for a specific product. I'm trying to find a simple, small, bluetooth remote control for a smartphone, and it doesn't seem like such a product exists.
I have a car with bluetooth phone support, but not A2DP, so I've purchased a Tunelink to get music and podcasts to my car stereo, and I love it! The problem is, I'm really not comfortable controlling my audio via my phone's screen. It's simply not safe to use a touchscreen while driving, and I'm driving all the time... Read more →

Does your Galaxy Nexus get stuck in headset mode?
details
I got my Galaxy Nexus last week and just yesterday I decided to try out my headset w/ mic to make a call. Since then I have not been able to make phone calls or play music. I did some searching and found out that my phone is stuck in headset mode. So, I installed this app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dwalkes.android.toggleheadset2
I'm now able to make phone calls and play music sans headset. BUT, I have to toggle a switch. I don't feel like I should do this. I think it is a hardware... Read more →

Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, or Lumia 800?
details
My iPhone 4 may be truly finished...
I am a cash strapped uni student on Telus in Canada, so that is where the list comes from. I am bored of iOS, and not excited about the 4S. Telus has three stand-out choices for me, two of which carry caveat. I have long said that I would not switch to Android, only Windows Phone, but the Galaxy Nexus has changed my mind. The Galaxy Nexus is available now, however the Note and 800 are listed as 'Coming Soon.' Time is an issue here, which likely puts the Nexus...

Should I re-buy a Galaxy Nexus?
details
I had a Galaxy Nexus for about two weeks but returned it because I was having issues with my phone and Verizon refused to swap it out. I recently purchased an iPhone 4s because of its resale value (I don't want to be stuck with a phone for two years), build quality, and camera. After about 20 minutes with my new phone I started to long for some ICS features mainly Google Maps, swift-key, widgets and haptic feedback.
I like the design and feel of the iPhone much more than the GN but I was an iOS...

Is there some way for NFC data transfer between PC and Smartphone?
details
NFC seems like a cool new tech and I've already go plans to try it out using stickers to trigger certain functions about the house, but is it possible to transfer data between my Galaxy Nexus and my Windows 7 PC?

I've been inspired by HP's Envy 14 Spectre, and was wondering if there are any chips or peripherals available. I've found USB readers/writers, but they don't seem to have the same function.

How do I get a case that fits with the extended battery? w/ Answer
details
Anyone that has the 2100 mAh extended battery has probably figured out that most cases won't fit quite right. While most case makers won't make new cases to accommodate the battery, you can just take off the phone's back plate (the one that came with the battery since the stock plate is too tight a squeeze to keep on). I did that for my Incipio case and it fits just fine. Doesn't exactly cover the phone all that much, but adds the texture I need to hold onto the phone. Otherwise it's as slippery...

If the Galaxy Nexus came to T-Mobile or AT&T, would it be the GT-i9250 (UK HSPA+ model) or a different model?
details
I know the i9250 passed through the FCC a while ago (http://goo.gl/E4cGc) and I'm wondering if that model would be the one to hit domestic GSM carriers.
Backstory:
I imported a GT-i9250 and have since dropped it. The parts cost alone based on what little info I could find would be over $350+, labor would be over £100 according to Samsung UK, shipping would be $100 each way according to DHL. The phone is still usable but I would like to get it repaired. It seems to only economically reasonable... Read more →
