Criteria Comments Rating
  • Reception and call quality As good as any. Average. so-so
  • Display Hard to see in brightlight, small and not enough high contrast "themes". But, it is what I would expect from a brick phone. so-so
  • Battery life I think only the kindle is better. Since it is not running a bunch of other things it can focus on power. great!
  • Camera No comments
  • Ease of use It is like every other brick phone. so-so
  • Design and form factor It is made to be tough without adding a case, but it doesn't have the friendly ease of use as a smart phone. good
  • Portability (size / weight) Very heavy for its size. But let's not forget it is tough as nails. so-so
  • Media support No comments
  • Durability I don't think that there is a tougher one out there. The battery cover has to be screwed on. great!
  • Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) I didn't get it for the "apps". Unless you call mountain biking an app. awful!
Detailed review
Overall if you are looking for a phone to take on your next adventure race, this is the one for you. It can handle making calls after being in the woods for a week.

Plus:
1. Battery life is fantastic.
2. I have washed it with my pants more than once - no problem.
3. Flashlight
4. Tough as Nails
5. The lanyard loop is big enough to attach it to something solid.

Minus:
1. The side buttons are TO easy to push. I accidently turn on the flashlight or turn up the volume.
2. Cannot customize or disable all the buttons.
3. Samsung software does not work well with it. I wanted it to be able to back up data.
4 .No universal headphone or power jack.
5. The Bluetooth is bit shakey.
