Trackball Fix
details
Hey guys, I just tried this and it worked, lay a white sheet of paper down on a flat surface, and press the tour down in a circular motion (making sure the trackball is depressed), that seemed to clean the trackball for me. Just don't go overboard and break your phone!!! Also, I got this idea from a crackberry forum a loooong time ago and I take no credit for it (except bringing it to gdgt haha), I would credit the op but I can't find the forum again and don't remember his name.

RIM Blackberry Essex?
details
I had a Tour w/Sprint and loved it, but had to return it for financial reasons. And since there's no Essex product listing yet here, I figured I'd post in the Tour area. From what I can tell, Essex is to be the "Tour w/ wi-fi" we keep hearing about. I read rumors like they're switching from trackball to trackpad, which, based on the multitude of problems reporting, might have some basis in truth. Also sounds like it'll ship (estimated release is some point in Q1 of... Read more →

Trackball unresponsive and unpredictable
details
There is plenty to like about the Tour (nice form factor and good screen), but I'll leave those comments to others. I have now been using the device for a month and I am not in love. I'll add to the related topics where I have concerns, but this one didn't seem to be addressed: I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this, but I find the trackball to be terrible on the Tour. The cursor freezes and it even jumps around lines. Selecting text in emails is painful. I have... Read more →

Phone's camera and video performance?
details
Thinking about upgrading from 8830, but a few questions. 1. Is the camera any good - and is it easy to upload to wordpress, facebook, twitpic, flickr, etc.? 2. Same for video camera - any good - easy to upload to above as well? 3. How does the still and vid camera compare to iPhone 3GS? Bad AT&T coverage in my 'hood, so have to stay on VZW, but want to make the right decision. Thanks!

A little quirky but an awesome phone
details
Definitely the best BB ever made in my book. They took the powerful BB Storm and put it into the traditional format that we are all used to. However, with its initial load on 4.7.1 it does have some quirks. I have the Sprint version but I'm told the Verizon one has these same issues. GPS on Google Maps does not work. I've seen posts pointing the finger in both directions (between Google and the firmware on the phone). I'm sure an update will come soon to fix this unless it's a... Read more →

Back cover "jiggle" solution
details
I love my Tour, but one thing that drove me crazy about it was how the back cover was secure, but somewhat loose. To remedy this, I've found that sticking a piece of electrical tape just along the edge of the inside of the cover (so the tape is just along the edge, and overlapping the plastic fasteners slightly) keeps things solid.

Wired Headset?
details
I see that the Blackberry Tour has the 3.5mm headphone jack, but I cannot find anywhere if it supports the wired stereo headphones with integrated microphone that they introduced in the Curve. I currently have an 8830 that came bundled with the earbuds that have an integrated mic, but do these work, and are they included if I upgrade to the tour? They are a very slick solution for people like me who don't like Bluetooth headsets, and allow me to listen to music, then mute/unmute...

BB Tour 9630 on Sprint, anyone?
details
I'm currently in need of a new phone, I lost my 755p and now need a replacement. Although my first choice was the Pre, (as a Sprint customer, and a fan of Palm devices) I'm strongly considering the 9630. Don't get me wrong, I think WebOS is a far better OS then the BB, but I'm not exactly thrill about the Pre itself. The Pre was everything I wanted on paper, (a good touch screen, a sliding keyboard, and a update from Palm OS) but once I held it at the store I just didn't like... Read more →

Upgrade Blues: "You Do Not Qualify For An Upgrade"
details
I logged on to sprint.com to upgrade to the Blackberry Tour 9630. I was so excited, I was going to pay extra for overnight shipping. The site gave me the price of $499.99 because my plan is less than $39.99. My whole bill does not even come to $39.99. I know I have a great plan but damn. I most likely will not qualify for the $100 mail in rebate. The last two phones I bought Sprint Palm Centro ($99, no mail in rebate) and for my wife a MWG Zinc II ($299.99, no mail in rebate) were all within my... Read more →

Dropped calls?
details
My brother has the tour and complains of a lot of dropped calls. Now before anyone says its the network we both have Telus and blackberry devices. I've never had a dropped call with my 8330 curve. Has anyone else noted a lot of dropped calls since getting the Tour or has there been more people with Telus Tours getting dropped calls.
