It's tough to feel really excited about the BlackBerry Torch and OS 6 after heavy testing...To call the Torch the "best BlackBerry ever" wouldn't be an understatement, but unfortunately for RIM and the faithful, their best isn't nearly good enough.

The bottom line: Though performance could be better and it could stand for some hardware upgrades, the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry OS 6 offer much-needed improvements to stay in step with the competition, and keep BlackBerry enthusiasts happy.

BlackBerry isn't good enough anymore if you're comparing it to other smartphones. What does it do better than the rest? That's the fundamental question. And the answer is that for most people, in most situations, compared to Android and iPhone, not a whole lot.

RIM has delivered a consumer product that not only puts the best of everything BlackBerry into one device. Between the sliding action of the hardware and the touchscreen experience on BlackBerry 6, the Torch 9800 is not just the best BlackBerry to date, but also the one that is the most fun to use.

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is far from flawless, but it still brings a lot of new features to the table; in fact, I would say that it’s the variety of improvements that make the BlackBerry 9800 Torch and specifically OS 6 a reasonable success.

With the natural advance of the technology,is a good device,but have many problems of software and the battery life is very poor.

I find this the most versatile and useful Blackberry I have ever owned. Touch screen is very accurate but not quite up to iPhone so the keyboard is a great plus. Apps are plentiful and useful. Battery life under heavy use (internet) is under 8 hrs when not 2 days normal.

Although I've been using RIM devices for many years, I have to say that the Torch is a real disappointment. It shows that RIM still doesn't understand why the iPhone has been so successful. It's not enough to just put a touchscreen on a device and label it your "flagship" phone of the moment....

If you need a Blackberry, this is about as good as it gets. I got this for my wife, because she needs complete (notes, tasks, email, calendar, contacts) Exchange integration and demands a physical keypad. I agree with all of the reviewers that this thing is a pale imitation of the latest...

If you are going to get this phone wait for the Torch 2. The only real downsides to this phone are the laggy animations and general sluggishness, both of which are fixed with the Torch 2.

I still don't get the fact that it has got the classic Blackberry controller button plus a touchscreen plus a keyboard. It is just too much and makes it sometimes hard to use.

Overall not disappointed but wish it did a bit more. As far as my business needs go, I am well taken care of. But I do wish it did other things since I am not working 24/7 and would prefer to have one device handle all my needs
