Sadly, this isn’t the tablet to break the Apple stranglehold. There’s no 3G option presently, the screen falls a little short and there just isn’t enough here in terms of high-level apps and functionality to make this a smart choice over the similarly priced iPad 2. quote

Right now, the BlackBerry PlayBook is a tablet that will come close to satisfying those users who gravitate toward the first word in its name: BlackBerry. Those who were more excited about the "play" part would be well advised to look elsewhere.

Overall, the features provided by PlayBook OS 2.0 are a welcome update for any BlackBerry PlayBook user. . . . Is the PlayBook going to take a big bite out of the tablet market? Probably not, but then, few have.

It’s a well-constructed device with great media-viewing capabilities, solid hardware specs and a price on par with the current tablet market. But with serious gaps in key areas like app selection and Flash stability, you may want to think twice before picking one up.

The PlayBook is well built, has masses of potential, but it’s not quite there yet. ... Ultimately, it’s early days for the PlayBook, if RIM can live up to their promises this is one tablet that could be the main set for businesses everywhere.

Unfortunately there still too many rough edges for us to comprehensively recommend the PlayBook – or, indeed, for it to entirely take on the iPad 2 as RIM might hope.

Our final verdict is: wait and see. If the apps trickle in and RIM continues to support the platform, the device has the makings of a solid business tablet. It might all work out in the end. For now, the PlayBook is a faint glimmer of things to come.

This is an incredible project. The 7 inch form factor is a perfect mix between screen real-estate and portability, and with a understated design sense built with durable nice to hold materials it's a device that you'll want to port around a lot. The UI is the real showpiece of the device, a...

Lack of apps hobbles the PlayBook, hopefully get better over time. Many apps only work in landscape which hampers utility.

I think the Blackberry Playbook is an excellent device. Perfect size and it hand running multiple applications with ease. My only major gripe with it right now is the lack of apps, but I know there will be more down the road. Overall a nice piece of hardware, which has a lot of promise.

I have bought my Playbook on the day it premiered in UK and it has not left my side since. It is a great, very powerful device. I no longer have to switch on my laptop to find whatever I need on the Internet. Playbook has an excellent size - it is big enough to see what's on screen, but small...

If you are reading this review then you are already familiar with the general specs and features of a Blackberry Playbook. In the last two months, I've been really happy with its performance given the lack of app support in Blackberry App World and being in a foreign country (like PRC). The...

I wish I could rate it higher, but a lack of native PIM applications makes this a really gimped device. So why did I purchase it?...I wanted a more compact video player on the go that still had tablet capabilities.

This is an excellent device for someone who loves their BlackBerry Bold or Curve and would like to have a tablet to complement their experience. The tablet has a large beautiful screen that you can use to read mail, calendar, notes, and BBM messages from your phone through the BlackBerry Bridge...

This is a great tablet, it's never failed, very powerful. I've been able to go multiple days without taking my laptop with me, and I've yet to be let down. What a great product!
