Conclusion: We like it

The big brother of the gdgt-recommended Black Widow, the Ultimate model adds a USB hub, more macros, headset ports, and backlit keys to one of the best mechanical keyboards out there. If you're looking for a great typing experience — for gaming or work — we think the less expensive Black Widow is a better deal. But if illuminated keys and the rest of the Ultimate's features are worth an extra $40 or so, we certainly wouldn't blame you for picking this one instead.

At $125, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is a competitively priced mechanical gaming keyboard in its range. We just wish Razer had done more to set this "Ultimate" edition apart from Razer's more affordable standard BlackWidow.

It’s not a bad keyboard, but in the face of truly excellent competition, I just can’t recommend the BlackWidow.

The BlackWidow Ultimate’s excellent build quality and nicely sized feature set more than make up for its few shortcomings. This one’s a winner.

I was a little leery about spending so much on a keyboard, but I do not regret the purchase. The feedback from the mechanical keys takes a little getting used to and if you have a house/officemate who likes to work in peace this is not the keyboard for you. The back lit keys are a nice touch....

The cost of this keyboard is a little prohibitive, but the feel of the Razer Black widow is second to none with the mechanical keys providing a feeling of and older keyboard but with modern functionality. If you don’t mind spending $100+ on a keyboard this is the one I would get.

The feel of a mechanical keyboard is amazing! The Razer Blackwidow Ultimate is one of the cheapest illuminated mechanical keyboards you can get. The blue switches provide a great albeit loud click, be wary as it may annoy some users or people nearby. This tactile feel of the blue switches click...
