NOTE:This is a double post, but it seems fitting for both the Logitech Harmony One and Xbox 360 Support Forums... I copied my questions from the 360 to here:
Anyone here have both an Xbox 360 and a HTPC? Currently I have a Mac Mini running Win 7 RC and it uses the IR codes for the apple remote. This is great, except i cant use Windows Media Center, which i have accessing a shared network drive to a different PC that is acting like a TV server. What I want to do is cut the Media Center extender from the Xbox and when 7MC supports Netflix, use that via the HTPC rather that the 360.
My question is this: does the 360 and Media Center remotes share the same codes? In the Xbox 360 settings menu, there's an option to use an Xbox remote or All remotes. If this is selected, will the 360 ignore media center remote calls? I also use a Logitech Harmony One remote that is setup for Xbox 360 and my HTPC (using apple remote calls currently), but I'd like to make sure that the remote knows that the Xbox has a dedicated control code so that I don't accidentally delete any content (ie: while my TV is on HTPC, the xbox isnt in MCE mode and deleting pictures while I'm deleting recorded TV content).
Input is greatly appreciated as I'm on the hunt currently for an USB WMC remote receiver. Anyone have suggestions on that one?
Question about
Xbox 360 and HTPC collision... Any ideas? anyone else have this setup?

That was the post I made in the 360, and I found the answer I was looking for. from what I gathered from the links provided, Media Center can be set to respond to all or a certain Media Center remote code-set and the xbox remote is different than these. With some tweaking, these 2 can co-exist... :D

I messed around with this last night. With information I got from the forum posts that motz sent me on the xbox 360 post I made, it was rather simple. The only thing I had to do was disable "all remotes" mode on the Xbox. To do this, press Guide > Settings > Console Settings > Remote Control > Xbox 360 Remote Only.
Once I had that done, My harmony still worked, but the WMC remote that came with my HP Touchsmart didnt anymore. Also, I used my Harmony in Xbox Activity and it did nothing. This is exactly what I was looking for.
I hope this also helps other people who have a simular setup, such as you, Decipher.
Thank you for repling as well... Morte confirmation is always a good thing... :D

Tips for giving the best answers
Sometimes it's just little details that separates a great and not so great answer! Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind:
- 1
- Be complete and thorough. Don't skimp on the details!
- 2
- Try not to answer with a question. Because that's not really an answer, right?
- 3
- A little research goes a long way. Back up your claims and assumptions!
- 4
- Try to be patient, tech questions can be complicated.
- 5
- You are awesome for both reading this and answering questions.
