would you buy a ipod first gen for cheap or get a brand new one for alot of money
Unless you're just using it for music, the first gen iPod is basically useless. Most apps don't work on iOS 3 anymore.

I'd definitely go for something newer. It doesn't have to be the latest one. For the record I have a 1st gen and whilst it's still good, it does get annoying when half the apps are incompatible and a bunch of features such as "Search within webpage" are non existent.
