With news of WebOS being open sourced, does this make the Touchpad more valuable? Should I throw my lot in with an Android port?

Touchpad is a decent device with a good OS and i think it stands on its own for now.

the fact boat WebOS is going open sourced i think could be great if and its a big if we start seeing others adopt it. from what i understand HP still has to make some changes to the OS before they release it 100% as open.

i would love to see what HTC does with WebOS. i don't see Nokia or Motorola releasing any devices so it think on the phone front it will really depends on HTC and maybe Sony.

my fear is that its too late for WebOS. what eco system does it have to pull people to it? what does it offer to consumers that they can't get in iOS, Win Phone and Android?

Becoming open source won't save WebOS for one reason: apps. Its already way too far behind iOS, Android, and WP7.

I installed Cyogenmod on my Touchpad and I've never doubted my decision, having real apps makes everything so much better.
