Question about

Wires easily broken?

I've had a major issue with this headset - sound keeps cutting out after a couple months of use and had to return it twice to have it repaired. (Unfortunately the second shipment was pilfered and Etymotic said they could do "little about it," which sucks, but true. One word of warning, though, you need to pay for the shipping and they don't tell you when they ship back to you.)

My question is, did anyone have similar problem with the cable connection breaking near the plug? Not much I can do about my situation, but curious.

Haven't had the issue, and I've had them for 7 months, but I have been concerned about that myself.

When I contacted Etymotic, they said that they were looking into this issue, so I got the impression that it is a design flaw. My other headsets (Senn MM50 and Shure I2C) for my iPhone never had this type of problem, so I don't think it's due to abuse. Actually, I was pretty careful the second time around.

It's disheartening to have a pricey headset like this to have this kind of flaws - despite generous warranty (they sent me a new one), now that it's stolen during shipment, I felt really stupid to have bought it :(

I am the same, my replacement pair of hf2's has just gone south because of a wiring issue at the 3.5mm housing. Its due to the bad design of the headphone jack, it sticks out a couple of centimetres and is really flimsy. I was in the boat with lecti as this is my 2nd pair I was excrutiatingly careful with this pair. I love etymotic, but this is pretty lame! Time to look for an alternative

I've had this twice with my hf2s - got them replaced each time. It was also a problem on my ER6is that I had before. I guess I don't learn!

I had the sound cutting out in the one ear after about 4 months of use. I returned them to the Apple store and got replacements there and then.

I love these ear phones so much, I'm not sure what I'll do if they break again. Any good alternatives for similar price?

I've had the same set for 4 months w/ no problems. I wouldn't say I abuse them, but I frequently wind them around my iPhone before stuffing them in my pocket. So far they seem pretty sturdy.

Had these for ten months and they have developed a fault. Now need to work out the process for returning them.

Have had them for about 4 Months and so far so good. Wear them frequently, and used quite a bit around noisy environments.
