Windows 7 RTM

Hi all,
I've been using the Release Candidate of Win 7 since February and all different versions of it worked fine on it. Since I'm a technet subscriber, I was able to try out the RTM version a couple of days ago and it seems to have a problem with the sleep/hibernate mode. It just eventually blue screens whenever it enters that mode. I've tried installing chipset drivers from Dell's support page, but they only have the Vista 64bit version--no Win 7. I've installed the graphics card driver for Win7 64bit directly from Nvidia and it briefly took care of the problem..but it has resurfaced yet again.

Anyone experiencing something similar with the power management stuff on the official release versions?

I have this machine with Win7 RTM, I did not have this issue, but I also have already upgraded the BIOS of this machine to the A15 firmware. That might correct the issue.

Yeah, I've had the A15 BIOS since it first came out because of the Nvidia defective design. Well, i might just reinstall and see if the problem persists. thanks!

Hmm. I was in the process of backing up my m1330 so I could install Windows 7 this evening. I will be using a Windows 7 Pro version from MSDN ~8/14 (between RTM and official release). Is it safe to continue my planned upgrade?

If you're feeling brave, why not! :) I'm just wondering if it's a driver issue specific to my machine right now and just don't have time to do a reinstall at the moment. Will do so in a couple of days and post an update.

I'm having the same problems on an older Dell Latitude D630 with power management and especially USB ports. USB devices seem to have problems after returning from sleep mode. Similar but less frequent issues on a Latitude E6400. Win 7 doesn't seem to be very good at power management and/or USB ports. (Using Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit RC and then RTM).

I've just installed Win 7 Enterprise and am installing drivers one by one while testing the power management features in between. So far, i've installed graphics and chipset drivers. So far so good.

Well, I seem to have pinpointed the problem causing sleep/hibernate to not work. Finding a solution, on the other hand is going to be the problem!

Whenever I install a PDF reader--whether it's Adobe's or Foxit's, sleep/hibernate just crashes. Odd.

I'm assuming this is graphics driver/hardware related. I don't even know how to begin asking tech support about this problem!

I've got Win 7 Pro x64, A14 Bios, and I've got the latest Nvidia drivers from the nvidia site (186.81). I don't seem to have any problems hibernating or sleeping - I've literally just tried it 3 times while writing this post.

I do also have Adobe pdf reader 9.2 installed.

Here's the link to the nvidia driver site in case you'd like to give it a try:
