Question about
will this have a mic on it? or is it going to be the same deal with the mic being in the earbuds like last time?
would I for instance be able to make a skype call on it and hold it up to my face like I would a phone? I don't see a small speaker on the top so I am thinking no.... >.<
The microphone is that little dot next to the camera. It's located there so that it'll pick up sound when you're recording video, which is the whole reason for its existence.

I'm assuming it will have a mic since the device does record video now (maybe even a second mic for noise-cancellation like the iPhone 4). It would be a gross oversight if you needed a headset while using FaceTime. But then again, this is Apple we're talking about, who loves to sell us extra (overpriced) add-ons and accessories.

Yes it does. Facetime would be pretty useless without sound :)
